0Finding practical summer shoes for boys
I’m not sure how it’s possible but a two-week holiday seemed to make all the difference when it came to Big Boy’s shoes. Towards the end of our holiday in France the shoes practically didn’t fit – and he had three pairs with him.
I’m not sure if his feet just happened to grow a lot, or if I managed to shrink them by getting them wet on the beach, but we moved on to flip flops pretty quickly.
Before returning home, I went online to buy him new shoes, which would be ready to collect on the day we needed them.
I didn’t want to start looking for anything new. We didn’t need to try anything. I’ve found what works and all we needed was the next size up.
Here are my two current favourites for boys summer shoes:
Matti Canvas Shoes from Papouelli (£36)
The Matti petrol canvas shoes with velcro fastening has become a summer favourite, which we’ve had in two sizes now. They are easy to put on and durable, and in my view, they work for both city and beach holidays. I usually go for navy everything, but I think the petrol blue colour on these looked good even after several months of use.
Hampton Nantucket Canvas Shoes from Trotters (£22)
I’ve ended up with a collection of Hampton Canvas shoes over the past two years, and our favourites for toddlers is the Nantucket Canvas Shoes, which is a traditional T-bar shoe that has become a summer must-have for three-year-old Big Boy. This navy shoe has been practical for holidays as well as everyday wear as they looks smart, they’re easy to put on and they’re lightweight to pack. The shoes are available from Trotters, which I’ve recently collaborated with, and I also think the Hampton Silver Martha Canvas Shoes makes for a versatile and practical summer shoe for girls.
