Finding the best black and white book for baby

Tiny Love Double Sided bookOn Saturday, I found myself writing a review of the Tiny Love Double-Sided Book for an online shopping site. I was in the middle of working on a freelance project, and should not have been spending time doing unnecessary product reviews, but since I had bought three of the same, I thought it made sense to explain why.

Vicki Scott, midwife and founder of New Baby Company, first suggested this book would be a good buy for us when Baby Girl was only a few weeks old, and after buying it, I wished I’d bought it even earlier. That’s why I now think the book makes a lovely baby gift.

The book has black and white images on one side, which is the one ‘toy’ I found it useful to have when Baby Girl was a newborn, as it’s meant to be good for baby development. When the baby starts seeing colours, the book can be turned around to the other side where there are colourful images and other features, such as a crinkly balloon to pull on.

The book folds out, and after we bought a playpen I’ve attached the book to the side of the playpen. Since we’re still using this after almost a year, I think it lasts longer than some of the other black and white books available, as I bought some others that we only used for a few weeks.

Now I tell friends who are expecting their first baby that what they really need from the very beginning is just this book, an activity gym, and perhaps one other toy like the Sassy Spin Shine Rattle, or the Wiggle Giggle Ladybird from Early Learning Centre.
