Finding the best birthday cake

Baby Mickey Kicca CakesBefore Baby Girl was born I remember a friend with kids telling me she was receiving daily emails from another mum as their sons were having a joint birthday party. Back then, this made me laugh. It sounded ridiculous to spend so much time on a baby birthday. But now I don’t understand what was funny about it at all. Birthdays are certainly no laughing matter.

I can’t wait for Baby Girl’s first birthday. That’s why I’ve spent the last few weeks looking at cakes.

It’s clearly essential to get the cake right for her first birthday. It will be the first time Baby Girl tastes cake, so it needs to taste good–and look amazing.

I recently saw a very impressive creation from Kicca Cakes in London at a birthday party, and I’ve decided to book Baby Girl’s cake from there.

I’ve been emailing with the lady behind Kicca Cakes, Mela. She’s sent me photos of a number of fantastic designs, with the ones that suit our requirements ranging from £90-300.

Initially, I thought I could do a course with Kicca Cakes and learn to make a 3D cake myself, but they don’t do the courses right now and it was probably a much better idea to order a cake anyway.

I’m not sure who will be the most excited about the pink Minnie Mouse cake on the day–Baby Girl or me.
