0Finding the best sunscreen for baby
When I was pregnant with Baby Girl, I asked a health professional if it was fine using sunscreen during pregnancy. I received a very strange look. Apparently it sounded like I was taking it a bit too far. But I only wanted to do the right thing–and that’s also the reason why 11-month old Baby Girl has built up a whole collection of sunscreens this summer.
Supergoop!
My favourite sunscreen brand is US-brand Supergoop! If I had lived in the US, I think I would have stuck to this brand, buying the giant-sized pump. The problem in the UK is that it is more difficult to get hold of, and although Space NK sells Supergoop! it’s not available in all their shops.
I also love the Supergoop! wipes, but I can’t find them anymore. The only issue I have with the Supergoop! wipes I have left over is that they are SPF 30 and I prefer using SPF 50 on Baby Girl’s delicate skin.
The Organic Pharmacy
The new sunscreens I’ve bought now are all SPF 50. Baby Girl has now tried a SPF 50 natural mineral sunscreen from The Organic Pharmacy, which I really liked the smell of, but I think it is quite expensive to pay £33.95 for 100ml.
Clarins
She also has the chemical-free SPF 50 Sun Care Milk for Children from Clarins, which I liked because it is specifically for children and it is also natural, water-resistant and priced at £18 for 150ml.
Vichy
In France, paraben-free sunscreens were much easier to find than in the UK. I found a broad selection of paraben-free sunscreens in the baby sections in pharmacies, and I liked the SPF 50+ one from Vichy, which was around €15 for 300ml.
