1Celebrating Pancake Day with Flora American pancakes recipe
Over the weekend Daddy T made pancakes twice. He’s our designated weekend chef, and had been persuaded to start preparing for Pancake Day. We were only planning on having pancakes as a treat on Saturday, but since we all ended up liking them so much, it seemed silly not to make them again for Sunday breakfast.
It was the Flora website with recipes that inspired him. We had been asked to try one of the many pancake recipes from Flora, which sponsored this blog post, and the American pancakes had caught our attention.
The recipe seemed to include ingredients we tend to always keep in the house, and they were quick and easy to make–so quick I ended up making them as an afternoon snack on a weekday too when Big Girl wanted a pancake with a funny face (see picture) and Baby Boy got to try a baby version (see picture).
The only challenge was to make enough. We had to do a double portion to meet everyone’s late morning or afternoon pancake requirements, and we kept having to buy more strawberries and blueberries.
With warm pancakes, whipped cream, maple syrup, strawberries, blueberries and a drizzle of icing sugar, it felt like we’d found the recipe for a happy start to the day!
Ingredients
125 g (4.5 oz) self-raising flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 Medium egg
250 ml (8fl oz) milk
2 tbsp Flora Cuisine
Method
In a medium mixing bowl sift all of the dry ingredients together. Make a well in the middle and set aside
In a separate bowl or jug, combine the wet ingredients and whisk together until well combined
Add the wet mix to the dry mix and stir until just moistened. The mixture will be lumpy but that’s fine
Heat a frying pan and add a little Flora Cuisine. Once it’s hot, drop ladles of the mix onto the pan. Once they are bubbly on the top and the edges appear dry (after about 2 minutes), it’s time to turn them
Cook for a further 2 mins. Serve immediately with a dollop of Flora Buttery and maple or golden syrup

Fab recipe, cannot stop eating pancakes since Shrove Tuesday!
