0Review: Getting 2019 off to a good start with new eating and beauty routines
At the beginning of the year, we ordered two new healthy eating recipe books from Amazon, which I’m collaborating with for a post. We were all about getting the year off to a good start, and our first food shopping in 2019 also consisted of a range of ingredients that were new to me.
We were finally moving to Himalayan Salt, and I was sent into a shop to ask for a specific type of broth. We’ve also joined the many Londoners starting every coffee order with the question about what alternative milk options are on offer, and I’ve started taking a reusable coffee mug to fulfill my morning caffeine routine.
As many of us are busy making changes to our routines, Amazon has a special New Year New You shop with a range of products that may make it easier to meet a New Year resolution. One of the items I recognised in this online shop was Ghee Easy (currently priced at £16.54 on Amazon.co.uk), which Daddy T was recently raving about because of its high smoke point and other benefits.
This pure form of clarified butter, which is said to improve digestion, can be used as a cooking oil, and we now keep the jar next to the oven and regularly use it for frying.
In addition to making healthy food choices during the week, I’m trying to do a better job at looking after my skin. Amazon has kindly sent me the compact Luna play plus 2-zone facial brush (currently priced at £39 on Amazon.co.uk) by Swedish brand Foreo, which I can see will transform my morning and evening routine.
The Luna is a cool, pink gadget with soft silicone bristles, and it is incredibly easy to use for cleansing the face twice a day. There is one on/off button to start the T-sonic pulastions, which gently massages the skin, and the brush is designed to unclog pores on the forehead, cheeks and T-zone by removing dirt and oil, dead skin cells and make-up residue.
Despite my limited time for any skincare routine, I like that this brush feels hygienic and it is something I think I’ll manage to use in addition to my newly acquired facial cream and eye cream.
In addition, I’m trying to get better at moisturising my hands during the winter months. The plan now is to start carrying hand cream in my bag to remind me to moisturise more often when the weather is so cold. I noticed Amazon has the Burt’s Bees hand repair cream (currently priced at £8.66 on Amazon.co.uk) that uses shea butter in the New Year New You shop, and in my experience, creams with shea butter can be great for softening dry hands.
Bring on 2019!
