Getting children ready for the ski season

When I was younger I used to work as a ski instructor, teaching groups of children in the evenings, or children and adults taking one-to-one lessons on holiday. Now I’m just waiting for the day we introduce Baby Girl to skiing – particularly since I’ve spotted a lot of cool ski gear for children recently and I would love a family trip to the Alps. Here are some of my favourite ski accessories for children:

Perfect Moment Ski Jacket
You might have seen the adult collection from Perfect Moment, a brand offering stylish but functional ski jackets, at Matches or Net a Porter, and I was excited to see the new kids collection being introduced at Alex & Alexa earlier this season. When I went to see the jackets – as well as ski sweaters and hats – they looked like what I would have wanted my little one to wear when hitting the slopes. The lightweight down jacket had so many cool features, and seemed like the ultimate ski jacket (see red and white jacket) for young skiers. The jackets are available in size 6 years and up.

WoolLand Thermal Wear
In recent years, friends in Norway have been raving about Norwegian clothing brand WoolLand, which offers a wide selection of thermal wear in merino wool. The collection stands out for style and functionality, and House of Nordic Brands, run by a London friend, is now taking WoolLand to the UK market. The merino wool top (£59) pictured above is ideal for layering and it comes with matching leggings (£49).
