Getting ready for winter with Bernie and the Beanpole chunky knit accessories
When Daddy T took our three-year-old Big Girl for a walk to the supermarket the other day after she’d been at home with a temperature for 48 hours and was finally better, he came back saying she’d complained about being cold. Argh.
Instead of putting on the cute new Bernie and the Beanpole set, which we’d received to review and was a perfect match with the bright pink Ralph Lauren outfit she was in, he’d left the house with her only dressed in a jacket.
It quickly seems to be getting colder now, and it’s no longer necessarily a good idea to have Daddy T responsible for dressing Big Girl. At least not if I forget to remind him that she could actually get cold if she’s not wearing any winter accessories.
I’ve been excited about receiving the cool Bernie and the Beanpole accessories for her, as I like the quirky and fun pieces from this new brand launched by mums. The colourful knitted bobble hats (£18), scarves (£18), mittens (£16) and more from Bernie and the Beanpole look like something I would expect to see in the Alps or Scandinavia, where there’s typically a wide selection of wintery children’s accessories available in shops.
Colourful accessories are ideal in the snow, as they make kids easy to spot, and I could see the Bernie and the Beanpole chunky knit hat and scarf being good for pairing with Big Girl’s ski jacket, completing her look when bouncing in the snow on our visits to grandparents in Norway.
Big Girl, who’s very particular about what to wear, likes the bright pink colour on the Hot Mustard bobble hat and scarf and the soft feel of the oversized pom poms. I also like the look of the stylish Neon Sky accessories in yellow, grey and pale blue, which I think is a good unisex option.
The accessories are all acrylic, and the bobble hat has a fleece lining to keep little ears warm. Being Scandinavian, I would love to see accessories from Bernie and the Beanpole in wool next, making them even warmer for freezing temperatures.
