1Going on a pretend camping adventure with New Sprouts Camp Out
Before having children I was slightly worried I would have to start going camping when I had kids. I’m not the camping type, and I had been told kids would start asking for it.
This phase has now started. Big Girl, who is soon to turn 4, appears to love the idea of camping and doesn’t share my concerns about facilities. But I’m thrilled to have discovered the perfect solution – a pretend camping kit.
She received the New Sprouts Camp Out set (£20) to review from Learning Resources, and she now has everything she feels she needs to go camping.
The camping set comes everywhere. She can conveniently pack the bonfire, hot dog, marshmallow, chocolate and biscuit and barbecue fork in a camping bag to have on her scooter, and there’s a lantern that glows in the dark to go with it.
The kit is ideal for teaching young children about nature and outdoors without having to stay in a tent overnight. The kit has been great for getting family and friends together around the bonfire both in the garden and in school.
I’ve been amazed with how much kids love the idea of camping, and despite the fact that there’s just one hot dog and one marshmallow to share, the set has been brilliant for group play. They pretend to barbecue in turns, and make sure everyone eats the hot dog before anyone moves on to dessert.
The New Sprouts Camp Out set is a fun starter camping set, designed for children aged two to six, and for an even more realistic pretend camping adventure Learning Resources has the Pretend & Play Camp Set (£25), which includes a light-up lantern and stove and seven other accessories.
Since Baby Boy and Big Girl often play together now, I chose New Sprouts–a range I love for young children since it features durable, chunky, colourful and washable toys for imaginative play. For children aged four and over, I think the other Learning Resources pretend set with even more equipment is an excellent choice for garden-style camping adventures.
I have now discovered camping is great fun – particularly when it takes place within easy reach of modern amenities!
My kids are simply crazy about camping..And, I am not..This Pretend & Play Camp Set looks like a life-saver for me..I hope my kids love it..Thanks!
