The Gro Company launches Gro-snug 2-in-1 newborn swaddle and sleeping bag

Grosnug_RaindowSpot_ClosedArmsWhen I first heard about the new Gro-snug 2-in-1 newborn swaddle and sleeping bag from The Gro Company, the company behind the popular Gro sleeping bags for babies and children, my first thought was that it wouldn’t be for me. I remembered Daddy T and I feeling like swaddling pros when Baby Girl was little, and I had pictured us being completely into muslin swaddling techniques again this time around.

But after a week of swaddling Baby Boy with muslins we were getting lazy and weren’t convinced our techniques were ideal for Baby Boy. We soon opened the Gro-snug–a newborn swaddle and sleeping bag we’d received to review–and since the day we started using it we’ve not gone back to swaddling Baby Boy with a blanket in his Moses basket at night.

I had previously been worried about swaddling bags restricting hip development, but I’m completely converted when it comes to Gro-snug, which is being launched today. Gro-snug (£22.99) can be used in different ways, with one option making the bag tight across the arms, which means Baby Boy doesn’t easily wake himself up. Although arms are held tight the material is stretchy and the design is loose across the hips. The fact that the design is loose across the hips means I’m now even more comfortable with Gro-snug than with us swaddling with a muslin.

I also like that Gro-snug has oppers on the sides so it’s possible to use it as a normal sleeping bag too, and in the transition period it’s possible to swaddle one arm and have one arm out by opening the poppers on only one side–just like many do with swaddling muslins.

Gro-snug feels safe, soft and comfy, and Baby Boy doesn’t wake up quite as frequently when he sleeps in it. In fact, I think it is  so clever that I’m thinking about getting another one for Baby Boy now that The Gro Company launches Gro-snug today.
