0Half-term: Fun day out at Ripley’s Believe It or Not
Before arriving at Ripley’s Believe It or Not on Wednesday, I really didn’t know what to expect. I had read about the exhibits including a life-sized knitted Ferrari, a dinosaur and lots of quirky and unusual things, but I had no idea I would find it so inspiring and fun to walk through the various galleries. Baby Girl and I had been invited to visit the attraction, which is normally recommended for children aged 7 and over, and we both enjoyed different aspects of the tour.
She loved the animated dinosaur, and said ‘bye-bye’ to it when I suggested it was time to move on. I liked all the different art made of sweets, bottle-caps, matchsticks, lipstick and so on. She loved climbing up to the No 1 on the olympic podium on display, and I liked seeing the collection of olympic torches. She loved stepping on the virtual fish pond in the cafe and I loved the fun photo opportunities and going on the scale together to see how heavy we were.
There’s so much to see here – more than 700 unusual artefacts – and fun things to do, such as decorating a virtual graffiti wall and walking through a rotating tunnel.
At the end of the tour, there was a mirror maze and a laser maze, which we will definitely be back for in a few years’ time.
I think Ripley’s Believe It or Not is a really fun London attraction for school-age children, and I would love to take Baby Girl again when she’s a bit older too to enjoy other aspects of the tour. I love the fact that this place feels so inspiring. Going here is not only entertaining for children, but seeing all the exhibits also made me want to be creative and that’s one of the reasons Baby Girl and I will definitely be back!
Ripley’s Believe It or Not is located at Piccadilly Circus, and tickets are £26.95 for adults (over 16) and £21.95 for children aged between 5-15. There are also changing facilities at the attraction.
