0What happens after a caesarean section
‘No car? For weeks? But I will be stuck at home then?’
I got very stressed when I heard I wouldn’t be able to drive for weeks after having a caesarean. I couldn’t quite understand how my new life without a car would be.
But after the operation, it was not the car I was the most worried about. I practically lived in a bubble for the three nights we stayed at the Kensington Wing, which seemed to pass so quickly despite us not doing much at all.
On the day of the operation I stayed in bed all day, and the next day, I got up and went to the loo and managed to wash my face and chest in the process. I took the painkillers I was advised to take, and I continued taking some after leaving hospital too.
It was perfect to have Daddy T at home the first two weeks, as he could carry Baby Girl, bathe her and change her, while I spent a lot of time on the sofa breastfeeding.
In addition, he could be my chauffeur and we took Baby Girl out on her first trips to Peggy Porschen and Number Sixteen. We also went out in the park for short and slow walks, and it didn’t take long before I felt fine walking longer distances too.
When Daddy T was back in the office, I took Baby Girl out in her car seat an jumped into a taxi when we had to go out for a doctor appointment or similar.
I did it. I survived without my car for a few weeks.
