Celebrating Home Digital download release with a London garden party

Garden Toddler Play Tent Outdoor‘That was very nice. I love that.’

This weekend Baby Girl and I had a lazy afternoon watching Home, the latest animation from DreamWorks now available for digital download, and celebrating with a London garden party with face paint, Home alien headbands and a new play tent. Baby Girl was clearly very happy with her day.

She didn’t stop talking about the film, and when Daddy T came home she said: ‘ The Boov was stuck in a fridge, Daddy, and then he came out.

I liked her description of the film, which clearly made an impression although we skipped a couple of scenes since Baby Girl is just under 3 and I thought the Gorg – the enemies in the film – looked a bit scary for her. The main character in the film, however, is the charming, purple alien Oh, a Boov who sends a party invitation email to everyone in the galaxy by mistake after the Boovs conquer planet Earth and move all humans. The email, which includes directions, puts the Boovs at risk from the Gorg, and Oh tries to escape angry Boovs when he meets Tip, a girl who was missed when the Boovs moved all humans. Oh and Tip team up and go on a journey to find Tip’s mum and stop the email from reaching the Gorg.

Like Oh, Tip and her mum do in the film, we celebrated with a party at the end, having fun with a Home party pack we received. Baby Girl was running around with a purple fruit drink, put purple face paint on my cheeks and forehead, made me wear a headband with lights and suggested we both drive our new garden car (see picture) – great fun and almost as funky as the one Tip drives in Home!
