0How to create practical baby changing stations
Over the weekend I cleared out a cupboard in the TV room, and I emptied one of Daddy T’s bedside table drawers. I needed more space for soon-to-arrive Baby Boy – or more specifically nappies and changing mats.
My plan now is to create changing stations three places in our house to make life easier for myself. I already know I’m having a c-section and I have a toddler to look after as well, so there’s no chance I can constantly be running up and down several floors to change baby’s nappy.
Instead, I’m creating three changing stations in the house. We’ll have one standard changing station with a Bloom changer/dresser on one floor, and in our bedroom, where Baby Boy will be sleeping at first, we’ll have a drawer for easy storage of a changing mat and all the other essentials.
The third changing station will be in the TV room, and for this room, I’ve received a sample of a Kit for Kids wipe-clean and phthalate-free PVC changing mat, which I know is exactly what we need here. I’ve used one before, and I think they are very practical and hygienic. The mat is easy to keep clean, and I’ll probably often change Baby Boy on the mat on the floor, so I think a mat without a fabric cover makes better sense for this type of use. I also like the fact that the Kit for Kids changing mats come in a variety of designs, and the blue one we’ve received will be perfect for Baby Boy.
To store all the extras, I’ve cleared out and cleaned a plastic Duplo box, and turned it into a nappy box with size 1 nappies and our favourite wipes Water Wipes. I’ve used the lid for nappy cream samples from luxury baby toiletries brand Little Butterfly London, a luxurious Seascape Les Petits baby body lotion I’ve received to test and Organic cotton pads.
In addition, I’ve ensured I have disposable Lansinoh breast pads and the Lanolin cream available for me by each changing station. I’ve received some as samples but also bought more of these to have everything I know I’ll need in several places in the house. By storing every item in boxes, the essentials are easy to pull out and access quickly.
Easy does it!
