How to survive a tube journey with toddler

If you’re thinking about taking a toddler on the tube passing a stop near one of London’s top toy shops you might want to reconsider your route.

This summer, we’ve been particularly unlucky in our tube journey choices. I’ve been stuck with a very upset Baby Girl underground.

The problem has been other excited passengers unwrapping everything from ponies to dolls. And there’s not been a single new toy for Baby Girl to find in my bag.

After realising she’s really missing out, Baby Girl’s tried escaping from her buggy to get closer to the action, and shouting loudly: ‘Me, me, me, me, me, me, me’ while pointing in the direction of the ponies and dolls.

For once, I’ve felt like I’ve been the strict parent who’s avoided toy shopping.

Or that’s at least what I’ve felt in the few minutes before I’ve ended up promising Baby Girl to take her to Harrods the next day.

It’s obviously not her fault we’re stuck on a crowded tube with happy tourists with exciting buys. My little star clearly deserves a holiday treat too.
