0Celebrating In the Night Garden 10-year anniversary at RHS Wisley Garden
“What are we going to give Upsy Daisy and Igglepiggle as a present?”
Four-year-old Big Girl was very excited to hear we were going to Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy’s birthday this morning, but was stunned to hear they were turning 10, meaning they were older than her friends.
To celebrate the CBeebies hit show In the Night Garden’s 10-year anniversary, we were invited to take part in the themed activities at the Family Garden Show at RHS Wisley Garden this weekend. It seemed like the perfect place to visit on a sunny day like today, and as soon as we walked through the entrance I told Daddy T that I was not surprised some friends had said they’d considered becoming members at RHS Wisley.
It was our first time visiting the beautiful garden, and it was also the first time there’s a Family Gardening Show there. As part of this event, there’s now an In the Night Garden activity tent set up a short walk from the entrance area, where there are free children’s activities and character meet-and-greet sessions between 10am to 5pm tomorrow Sunday 4 June.
Big Girl and Baby Boy met both Upsy Daisy and Igglepiggle, and in between the two photo opportunities there was a storytelling session and a music and dance class.
Next to the area for group activities, there are art tables where children can have a go at gardening, decorating flower pots and planting seeds. We were invited to take part in the flower pot planting (£8 per child, cash only), and the children were excited to stand on step stools and opening the big colour-in paper bags they received, which were filled with a pot, moon plant seeds, a magazine and other material needed for the activity.
On the tables there were stickers and permanent markers, which they used for decorating the flower pots, before we made little Pontipines to stick on them and got soil to fill them up.
A magical day out in the sun!
