Introducing baby to new flavours

Weaning spoonsIt could go both ways. I could end up with a two-year old requesting tuna sashimi for tea, or I could be collecting a very hungry Baby Girl from nursery. I’m not sure it was a great idea to apply for Baby Girl to be served international cuisine at nursery.

Right now, she doesn’t even seem to like Italian. She had baby pasta with homemade tomato sauce with parsley, garlic and onion for tea yesterday, and she ate hardly any of it. In fact, there was so much left for me that I considered skipping dinner afterwards.

If she were to be served food from all over the world once a week, I’m not sure how well she would cope. Her idea of an exotic meal would probably be kiwi and passion fruit for pudding.

But to me the focus on international cuisine sounded like an excellent way for Baby Girl to be introduced to a variety of flavours at an early age. Perhaps it would even create the foundation for a budding career in the food industry. Go Baby Girl.

That’s a nice idea at the nursery. I just wonder how many different types of cuisine they have in mind…
