0Is it possible to take a self-drive holiday with baby in tow?
We had big plans for the summer holiday this year. We were meant to tour Italy. We were planning on visiting Lake Como, Lake Garda and Portofino. It was all meant to happen after spending a few days with grandparents on Cap d’Antibes.
But it’s now a week since we were meant to go and we’re still nowhere near the Italian border. It turns out ten-month old Baby Girl is really not someone anyone would want to sit in a car with for hours. I’m sure self-drive holidays are ideal for many families, but in our case, the half-hour it takes us to drive from Cap d’Antibes to Cannes is at times pushing the limit for how far we can go and remain sane
I’ve also stopped driving to Heathrow when travelling on my own with Baby Girl. We’re now regulars on the Heathrow Express instead.
A road trip was just not for us this year, and I’m now not sure when it will make sense to take the Italy holiday I so wanted to go on.
Perhaps I need to incorporate a drive up and down King’s Road into our morning routine next term to ensure she gets enough practise. Right now, our car does not seem to have the same soothing effect as friends claim their cars have.
