What I’ve learnt since becoming a mum
Looking back at 2013, there’s one very important lesson I have to remind myself never to forget.
In January last year, I was in a restaurant with my little breastfed bundle of joy and spotted a toddler watching cartoons on an iPad while eating her lunch. ‘Very bad habit,’ I thought to myself.
One month later, I was stuck at the table for an hour every time I tried to feed Baby Girl her solids, and was getting pretty desperate.
Ten months later Baby Girl was pointing at our iPad and shouting ‘Baby!’ (her nickname for Peppa Pig) every time she was seated at the dinner table.
Having Peppa Pig on in the background wasn’t exactly Plan A for Christmas 2013, but I figured she deserved to have a wonderful Christmas too and I didn’t want to disappoint her every time. Excellent habit.
Being a mum isn’t always as straight forward as I thought it would be. But after learning how challenging it can be, I do know never to judge.
