0Joining Mini Harrods for fun events and treats for little Londoners
On a Sunday in July Daddy T was upset with me for making too many plans. It was pouring down outside, and he was tempted to stay in and avoid having to pack everyone into the car and get wet. But I was determined to go to Harrods. More specifically to Mini Harrods.
Despite a rough start to the day, he soon realised why. Staying at home with a newborn and a preschooler isn’t necessarily relaxing. What’s relaxing is going out to do something to keep kids entertained, and have us sit on a sofa and be served tea and breakfast canapés.
And that’s exactly what we had in store. At the Mini Harrods event we had been invited to Baby Girl got to decorate her own passport cover, draw on a sun hat, meet the giant Mini Harrods bear Oska-Poska and have a fun photo taken. It was an action-packed hour for her, and a relaxing one for us, as Baby Boy was asleep in his buggy and we had a seldom tea and coffee break on the sofa in the Harrods event room.
I remember reading about Mini Harrods when Baby Girl was born and was gutted we couldn’t sign up before she was two. Now she’s suddenly three and I had completely forgotten about it.
Mini Harrods, which must be the ultimate club to join for little Londoners, is free to join for children aged between 2 and 10 years old when parents hold a rewards card and an Harrods account.
Members, who all receive a Mini Harrods card and can start saving points when shopping in Harrods like their parents, receive invitations to events like the summer one Baby Girl attended. There are also Mini Harrods Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations for parents and children, and members are the first to hear about competitions, special offers and activities that happen in The Toy Kingdom and Childrenswear at Harrods.
I’m a fan–and I think Baby Girl is too after her amusing morning, which ended in her being given some sweeties and an Oska-Poska storybook when leaving the event. A pretty brilliant way to spend a rainy Sunday.
