Keeping baby safe from electrical hazards

SocketI have a feeling Baby Girl is keeping her options open when it comes to career paths. When she’s not drumming or shaking her maracas, she’s testing her skills as a mini-electrician in our home, exploring every cord and socket in sight.

I can’t say it’s something I’ve encouraged though. In fact, I’m constantly running after her, saying ‘no’ and trying to tease her with toys instead.

Although the hunt for cords makes good exercise for both of us, I really wish cords were less exciting. It’s not like we can get rid of them, and it’s not always easy to block off areas with furniture.

The sockets we’re not using have been covered with plug socket covers from Clippasafe, which I like because they’re so difficult to take out that Daddy T had to use a knife to remove one the other day.

But that’s about all I feel it’s possible to do. I still need to be able to watch TV, charge my phone and laptop and dry my hair.

Baby Girl simply has to improve on her electrical skills fast–mainly by learning not to explore this career path at this moment in time.
