0Keeping children entertained at home during the holiday
‘I want to draw! I want to draw!’
I had just managed to strap Baby Girl into the car seat after a morning meltdown because she felt teddy needed Baby Boy’s baby chair, and she had suddenly calmed down but decided she now wanted to draw. Excellent timing as always.
I was super stressed, as I was trying to get us to Battersea Park for Teddy Tennis by 9am, but to avoid any more screaming straight away I decided to run back into the house to find some drawing things we could take with us.
When I remembered I had actually saved a new pack of Fairytale Crayons for an emergency after receiving a new fairy children’s gift set from Moonpig to review, my shoulders dropped. This was exactly what we needed, and even attempting to open the pack of crayons with fun shapes would keep her busy for a while.
I was right. The crayons lifted the mood and we could enjoy a peaceful drive along the river.
In fact, the Moonpig fairy kids set (£15) has now saved me on several occasions. In addition to the fun crayons, it includes a fairy fingerprint set with ink pads and pencils and fairy stencils and markers, which are ideal for rainy days, travelling and generally for having something fun to offer children at home over the school holiday.
When Baby Girl first opened the set, which is perfect for fairy fans like her and suitable for both preschoolers and school-age girls, she was stamping cards, making lots of fingerprints and drawing arms on the shapes with the little pencils. To my surprise, she was sat still at the kitchen table working on this for close to an hour. Pretty fantastic for my three-year-old.
And pretty fantastic for me who was trying to keep her entertained on a rainy day at the same time as breastfeeding baby, changing nappies and clothes, and preparing food for everyone!
