0Keeping kids entertained with pottery painting at Sammy Duder
I was almost dreading half-term this October, as I felt I’d just had a chance to start focusing more on work and I wasn’t quite ready for another school holiday. But now that we’re three days in I’m not sure what I was worried about.
We’ve had a chance to do some of the activities I don’t always manage to fit in during a busy school week, and this morning we had fun painting pottery at the intimate and welcoming pottery studio Sammy Duder in Battersea, which we had been invited to visit.
I love the friendly atmosphere at Sammy Duder, the unique writing service and seasonal window displays, and today there were a number of school-aged children painting Halloween-themed plates and even starting Christmas decorations.
Four-year-old Big Girl did the latter, choosing a brand new reindeer-shaped Christmas bauble to paint. The colourful reindeer will make a lot
enly addition to our Christmas tree, and the only problem was to leave Big Girl’s new pal and explain that the reindeer could not go home with us straight away.
Sammy promised to feed the reindeer carrots during its time in the kiln and take extra good care of it for Big Girl.
We managed to get out of the pottery studio after an hour and a half with no tears for once. A lovely way to spend a morning with the children!
Sammy Duder in Battersea is open 7 days a week and offers a selection of pottery pieces to paint, and this morning they were unpacking new pieces to paint, including the reindeer, cute money boxes and more
