0Keeping warm with hot chocolate drink recipe
Baby Girl has learnt all about the weather in nursery, and she can confirm that it’s sunny, but cold outside. The freezing cold weather this week meant we found ourselves making a little hot chocolate stop at home on Wednesday before heading to a play date.
I found some pieces of my favourite chocolate in the fridge, and took out the winter warmer kit we’d been sent from Lactofree, a real dairy range, specially filtered to remove the lactose (sugar in milk).
We melted our chocolate in a saucepan, added some cream, and then enough Lactofree Semi Skimmed for two cups. I also made whipped cream, and served it to Baby Girl in her baby mug from Pottery Cafe. Keeping warm is fun if you have the right ingredients for some delicious family winter warmers!
Here is a more innovative hot chocolate recipe from Lactofree for those who want to make a hot chocolate with a twist:
Chilli Hot Chocolate (serves 2)
1 cinnamon stick
750ml Lactofree Semi Skimmed
150g lactose free chocolate, chopped
35ml Lactofree cream (whipped)
Ground cinnamon
1 red chilli, cut into thirds
Heat the cinnamon stick, Lactofree Semi Skimmed and red chilli in a saucepan with medium-high heat for 7 minutes. Set aside for 10 minutes to allow flavours to infuse. Place into a clean saucepan, discarding solids and heat over medium heat for 4 minutes. Reduce heat to low and then add chocolate and whisk until smooth. Pour and top with whipped cream and a sprinkling of ground cinnamon.
