3 places to try horse riding for kids near London

Equestrian at Coworth Park
As a special treat, I think a trip to Coworth Park with a pony riding lesson followed by lunch in the hotel makes for a wonderful and relaxing day in the country. Coworth Park is situated near Virginia Water, and is only a 30-40 minutes drive away. Equestrian at Coworth Park offers one-hour children’s riding lessons (from £65), for example, and riders can explore the beautiful estate while learning new skills.

Stag Lodge Stables
Earlier today I drove past Stag Lodge 2–one of the two South West London Stag Lodge Stables locations–and it reminded me that a friend had recommended this venue for horse riding or pony riding lessons for children. Stag Lodge Stables offers horse riding lessons and courses for children and adults of all ages from three upwards. The youngest riders can book 30-minute pony park lessons (from £25), and one of the popular activities for children aged five to 12 years are the four-day Pony Week Courses, which run from Tuesday to Friday over school holidays, including the summer holiday.

Wimbledon Village Stables
When we’re in Wimbledon we always enjoy seeing horses around Wimbledon Village, which is home to Wimbledon Village Stables. For children aged 7 years and older, Wimbledon Village Stables offers lessons on their horse riding simulator, which can help prepare riders for the horseback. The 30-minute sessions start from £36.

For first-timers it can also be sweet to try pony riding at a farm park, and charming Bocketts Farm Park in Surrey offers £2 pony rides for children aged 3 and over at special times during the day.
