0Review: Kids My Little Pony and Transformer Muck Boots for top quality all-weather boots
On Monday four-year-old Big Girl felt she had the very coolest skates on the ice rink at the Natural History Museum. She was boasting the new kids My Little Pony Hale Muck Boots (£55), which she had received to review from The Original Muck Boot Company, and we had attached the double glider skates we had hired to her boots.
Muck Boots and skates turned out to be a brilliant combination not only because Big Girl adores having special Twilight Sparkle boots, but also because the top quality waterproof boots, which feature a robust rubber sole and soft neoprene on the upper half of the boot, are versatile and warmer to wear than standard wellies.
The Muck Boots remind me of the type of boots I used to wear growing up in Norway, and when worn with warm socks, I felt they were even good for Big Girl to have as her only shoes when we travelled to cold and snowy Oslo for a couple of days.
We first got to know the brand at The Original Muck Boot Company press event in Kew Gardens in October, where we saw the full new Hasbro Muck Boot range and went on a tour around the beautiful garden. At the event, we saw the Transformer Hale Muck Boots for boys, and for those who don’t want character-themed outdoor footwear, there were also numerous options for kids Muck Boots in solid colours or more neutral prints.
I would probably not have wanted Big Girl go ice skating in normal wellies, and most definitely not picked standard wellies for a trip abroad, but Muck Boots take waterproof footwear to a new level, making them more practical for various types of outdoor activities. I think it’s easier to get more use out of these than wellies, and I can see the US brand-originally designed to meet the demands for tough footwear in the farming industry-growing in the UK with the fun new Hasbro range for kids and functional waterproof footwear for adults.
I’ve received an adult pair too–the Tremont Wellie (£90)–which will be great for taking to the Cotswolds, going on long walks in London’s parks, or simply doing the school run in wet weather. The only challenge for me is these tall and stylish wellies are a bit more tricky to get off than my other wellies.
The My Little Pony Muck Boots, however, have a wider opening to make them easy to get off, and the only reason they’re at times difficult to get off Big Girl is that she’s strong-willed.
