0Learning about space with Planetarium show Ted’s Space Adventure
When I found myself humming along to a tune from a film I watched three months ago, I felt it was about time that I wrote about this experience that had clearly made an impression.
In October, we went to see Ted’s Space Adventure in the Planetarium at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, and this is a show I’ve since recommended to others because of the way it introduces children to our solar system.
Ted’s Space Adventure is an animated show that is aimed at under 7s and it teaches young children about the different planets and the sun. The main characters are Ted and Plant and they travel to different planets to explore what it would be like to live somewhere else than on planet Earth.
The film is projected onto the dome-shaped ceiling of the Planetarium and the theatre features reclining seats. The experience was more interactive than I had expected when booking, and we particularly enjoyed the live commentary from an expert, who we also had an opportunity to chat with after the show finished.
During the film, the commentator made us laugh and encouraged us all to sing out loud with Ted and Plant. It was one of those educational mornings out that was probably equally fun for the children and myself, and the catchy tune was a hit with us all.
In fact, after the positive experience, I happily purchased two Ted soft toys to take home as a memory from our London adventure.
Tickets to Ted’s Space Adventure are £8 for adults and £5.35 for children online. The Planetarium is part of Royal Observatory, which is located on top of a hill in Greenwich, and when visiting on a sunny day, we also enjoyed the gorgeous views of the city from the benches outside Royal Observatory.
