0Learning about Raising Girls with Steve Biddulph
This evening I’ve sat down with a cup of tea and the book 10 Things Girls Need Most by the renowned parenting educator and psychologist Steve Biddulph (£16.99, Thorsons). I very seldom find the time to read books, but this is one book I don’t want to miss.
After Daddy T and I went to Biddulph’s Raising Girls talk at Queens Gate School the other week, I felt I really needed to read the book.
Biddulph is currently touring in the UK and his captivating talk left me teary eyed. I was touched by both his stories and what he had to say about growing up in today’s world–mental health and challenges I hadn’t even started thinking about yet.
I left thinking that this topic is so important I most definitely want to know it all, and after hearing what he had to say I was not surprised his new book appears to be for sale in places I wouldn’t normally have expected to find parenting books, including at the till in Trotters.
Although I prefer learning about parenting in a live environment, there’s not every day it’s possible to buy tickets for a talk with the bestselling Australian author Biddulph, and I now look forward to reading the book to learn more.
Body image, the role of dads and even the importance of aunties are topics that interest me, and things we couldn’t stop talking about when we went for dinner after the talk.
Moving and thought-provoking
For those who missed the Queens Gate School talk, Biddulph’s UK tour continues this week and additional tickets appear to have been released for tomorrow evening’s Raising Girls talk at Wimbledon High School
