0Little Tikes reveals highs and lows of parenting and new baby range
With Baby Boy having developed a keen interest in throwing toys from the sitting room and down to the kitchen and Big Girl having started moving as many dolls and tiny collectibles as she can carry every morning from her room to the kitchen, it’s impossible to keep the house as tidy as I would have preferred.
In fact, I’m amazed at what can be done in as little as half an hour in the morning, and that’s why I’m not surprised the Nation’s New Parent Survey, which quizzed 1500 UK parents on the first year of parenting and was commissioned by Little Tikes, showed a quarter of parents think the constant tidying is the hardest part of being a parent, while another 22% said sleep is the hardest part.
According to the survey, it also takes parents an average of 14 months to get the hang of being a parent. The giggles is a key reward, however, with 38% saying seeing their little one laugh is the most fulfilling feeling.
The results were presented by Little Tikes’ play expert and child psychologist Emma Kenny at a Little Tikes breakfast in Soho last week, where Little Tikes also revealed their new line of baby toys.
The brand known for sturdy and colourful preschooler toys have introduced more baby toys, including special light and sound functions and innovative ways for supporting development.
There’s a new 3-in-1 Deluxe Soothe and Play Gym with vibrating mat and varied tempo music and sounds; a Light ‘n Go Activity Garden Treehouse with a magic lantern, shape sorter, shutter, arch and much more; a Light ‘n Go 3-in-1 Activity Walker and a Light ‘n Go Catching Lights Tiger, which both encourage children to chase the light.
Fifteen-month-old Baby Boy has received a Light ‘n go Catching Lights Tiger, and it’s spot on for getting children moving. He’s regularly walking his tiger around the kitchen island, giggling when the tiger roars and bending down to pat it when it’s back lights up. The toy is recommended from 6 months, and I think it would be particularly good for encouraging walking – and it continues to be fun for toddlers who’re already up on their feet.
When seeing the toys at the event, I was also very impressed with the Activity Garden Treehouse, which seems packed with different opportunities for play and also looks like a toy that could be used outside too.
Exciting new releases for the very youngest Little Tikes customers!
