0London mums launch Livotte for quality staples
The other week Baby Boy and I stormed into a Livotte breakfast launch in full raingear before we realised we were in a beautiful residential property in Chelsea and our wellies were not a good match.
The room was filled with local mums who had finished the morning school run and were ready to explore the brand new collection of black and white tops designed by Livotte duo Beth and Delphine and made in London.
Beth and Delphine have a background in fashion and publishing, and started Livotte after getting frustrated with the lack of basic quality t-shirts. The new collection, designed to solve this issue, features six styles available in black and white and priced at £135 each.
They all struck me as tops that would look equally good paired with jeans for an effortless chic daytime look, or paired with a skirt or dressy trousers and heels for a stylish evening look. Some could work under a blazer too, but they can all be worn on their own, featuring feminine and interesting details.
The fabric was the biggest surprise, as it felt stronger than expected to touch and nothing like the thin cotton tops I normally wear. The Livotte collection is made from British cotton–a bespoke cotton especially made for the brand at an English mill–to meet the requirements from the mums, who wanted to ensure the staples were easy to wash and wear. In fact, Delphine told me testing has shown the tops looked the same after 200 washes, which really impressed me.
