06 ideas for London October half-term activities for kids
1. Book the Paddington Bear Icing Party at Biscuiteers
Biscuiteers will be hosting a Paddington Bear Icing party in the Northcote Road cafe over October half-term. During the one-hour sessions, children can enjoy biscuit decorating, face painting and colouring-in fun. Tickets are £20 per child and can be booked online. The sessions run at 12pm, 1.15pm and 2.30pm on Thursday 25 October. (See pictures above from a previous review visit to the icing cafe)
2. Meet popular children’s authors at Kingston Children’s Literary Festival
Inspire children by booking a storytelling event during Kingston Children’s Literary Festival from 25 to 27 October. The programme includes sessions with authors and illustrators, including Adam Hargreaves and Sophy Henn. Prices range from £2.50 to £4.50 per event per child.
3. Join the half-term events at Waterstones
At Waterstones in Kensington there will be daily Halloween-themed sessions at 10.30am for children aged up to 5, and at 2.30pm for children aged 6 and over. The topics will range from Roald Dahl to Mary Poppins.
4. Go ice skating at Natural History Museum
Natural History Museum Ice Rink will be open from 25 October, and children and adults alike can start enjoying skating sessions. I particularly like the parent and toddler sessions available to book for weekdays before 3pm until 13 December, as these sessions are only £11 for a parent and a child aged four and under and include a complimentary drink for both skaters.
5. Book tickets for Hard Rock Cafe’s family Halloween event
On Sunday 28 October from 10am to noon Hard Rock Cafe London will be hosting their Li’l Monsters Ball to celebrate Halloween. The family event will include buffet breakfast, fancy dress and pumpkin competitions, face painting, scary goody bags and Halloween games. Tickets are available to book online.
6. Pick a pumpkin at Garsons Farm
Head to Pick Your Own Farm Garsons in Esher to get in the spirit of Halloween and get the kids involved in picking your own pumpkins. To finish off your day out, there are also Halloween decorations to buy in the Farm Shop.
