0London’s Dr Russo brings innovation to sun protective skincare
Seven years ago I had a long chat with a doctor about my perception of sun exposure and the need to stay in the shade, cover up and wear high sun factor since I have fair skin and a history of skin problems.
I’ve become the mum who wears UV tops in the water, a wide-brimmed hat and is seldom to be seen without slouchy trousers over my swimsuit on the beach, and that’s why I’m also always interested in innovation when it comes to sun protection.
The latest news that’s excited me is Dr Luca Russo’s sun protective skincare products, as I’ve realised I’m willing to pay more for sun protection for myself too and I want to avoid using the thick and sticky baby sun cream on my own face.
I met Dr Russo before Easter when I was invited to try a facial with him in his Harley Street clinic, and as a parent himself I felt he understood what families need when it comes to sun protection products.
The cosmetic surgeon, who focuses on reversing sun damage and premature skin ageing, has developed a new range of sun protective skincare products aimed at tackling the existing challenges faced in the sunscreen market.
Dr Russo explained that people generally don’t use a large enough amount of the sunscreen and they don’t apply it often enough. In addition, our routine is a problem, with most women wanting to avoid applying sun cream after putting on make-up.
To overcome these challenges, Dr Russo has developed a SPF30 Sun Protective Day Cleanser (£52) and an SPF 30 Sun Protective Day Moisturiser (£95), which can offer all-day protection when used in combination.
Dr Russo’s SPF30 Sun Protective Day Cleanser is the world’s first SPF cleanser featuring globally-patented ‘wash-on’ technology, and it can be used for cleansing the face in the morning, meaning it will easily fit with most people’s morning routine.
The moisturiser is a high performance day moisturiser, which has been formulated with a blend of four of the most advanced sunscreen filters, providing full broad spectrum SPF 30 protection. It is applied with a brush, and is recommended to use all year round on the face, neck and chest.
Next on Dr Russo’s agenda is to release a children’s sunscreen, and this too will feature the brush, so children can have fun ‘painting’ on the sunscreen.
One to watch for mums who prioritise sun protective skincare–and want the same for little ones too!
Dr Luca Russo founded The Rejuvenation Clinic and Medispa in 2004, and his anti-aging clinics are located in Harley Street and Canary Wharf. Dr Russo’s anti-aging facial (from £295), which includes the use of a dermaroller, is designed to clarify the complexion and smoothe the skin. The renowned surgeon also offers aesthetic consultation and treatments at The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane.
