0Making friends at antenatal course
When I hit my head last week and thought I had to find a good friend to stay with since Daddy T was meant to go away, several of the friends I would have wanted to call were friends I met through antenatal classes. I still see my antenatal group friends regularly, and some have become my best friends.
This is one of the reasons I always recommend pregnant friends to sign up for a course, and Daddy T and I both really enjoyed going to the Birth & Beyond course with New Baby Company, now advertising on Mummy in the City and a blog client of mine.
I think it was great to learn more about having a baby, and getting to know the lovely Vicki, who offers phone support to clients taking the course. It was fantastic to feel prepared for Baby Girl’s arrival, having learnt a lot about the first few weeks of caring for baby and the essentials, such as feeding, changing nappies, swaddling and bathing.
But I still think one of the best parts was the social aspect. It was brilliant to get to know other couples in the same situation, and we loved chatting to our new friends in the breaks. When we had a couple of mums-only classes, the dads still wanted to join in and they agreed to meet up in The White Horse instead.
Since then, we’ve kept in touch with many of the couples, and I’ve been to lots of monthly meet-ups with New Baby Company, where I’ve also met other mums who weren’t in the original group, but have still become great friends. My social life sorted!
