0Monitoring baby’s swollen lymph node
Baby Girl appeared to be very pleased with the new and exciting activity I had organised for her on Monday. She got to sit on my lap, hold a cord and watch a screen with black and white images. It seemed to be the perfect way to start the day. She really didn’t seem to mind that the activity took place in a hospital.
Seven-month old Baby Girl was at Bupa Cromwell Hospital for an ultrasound scan of a swollen lymph node behind her ear. I first noticed the small bump when she was three months old, and it’s remained the same size ever since. It’s been mobile, and never red or tender.
Although her doctor has not been concerned about it, as it’s apparently quite normal for young children to have swollen lymph nodes, we were advised that the next step was to do the scan. It didn’t hurt to confirm that it was nothing to worry about. In fact, it just made Baby Girl’s Monday morning just that bit more exciting.
