0When mum decides to catch up on sleep
On Friday I woke up to 85 missed calls, 3 texts and an email from Daddy T in addition to a text and missed call from our neighbours.
Going to bed early is not for me.
I had managed to accidentally lock Daddy T and his brother out of the house and they had been standing outside for one and a half hour by the time I came running down the stairs in a complete panic after having woken up and spotted my flashing phone.
I had figured I should take the opportunity to go to bed at a normal time to catch up on sleep since I was home alone with the kids. It seemed like a good idea as we’re in a phase now where I normally get around 4 to 5 hours of sleep a night. Baby Boy has decided his new routine is to get up at 5am and I struggle to go to bed early.
I thought I was coping relatively well despite the sleep deprivation, but Daddy T was not impressed when I finally opened the door on Friday.
I found a very stressed and exhausted Daddy T standing on the porch with a bent clothes hanger. The clothes hanger had been used to knock on the window in Big Girl’s room, and the baby monitor had picked up the sound, which woke me up.
I think all signs post to going to bed later being the safest option. I can survive tiredness, but not the guilt of more accidental family lockouts!
