When mum is getting styled by a 2-year-old

‘Mummy, can I help you with the make-up?’

Baby Girl wants to help with everything these days, and putting on my make-up and doing my hair appear to be pretty high up her list of favourite activities.

I often don’t get a chance to say anything either before she continues the monologue.

‘Of course I can help,’ she says.

She then goes and finds my make-up bag before I can stop her, and starts pulling out eye shadows or a concealer.

‘First we need this one,’ she says and holds up the concealer. I sit down on the floor and lets her put concealer under my eyes, blusher on my cheeks and eye shadow on my eye lids. She usually insists on doing the mascara too, but that’s the end of the road for me.

I love that 28-month-old Baby Girl can take her toy beauty case and style my hair, that she can do my make-up and tell me I look pretty if I put on anything remotely resembling a dress, but I’m really not sure how I would end up looking if I always replied ‘yes’ when asked: ‘Mummy, can I help you with that?’
