0When mum attempts to select top Nousha Photography children’s portraits
With the stress of waiting to hear results from school assessments for Big Girl and leaving the self assessment to the last minute, January did really not turn out to be a relaxing month. But to cheer me up I’ve been lucky to have a special link, which I now always keep open in Safari. It’s the link to a slideshow from our photo shoot at London’s family portrait photographers Nousha Photography in Battersea at the beginning of the month, and it never fails to put a smile on my face.
We were invited to try the shoot, which I’d heard friends raving about, and the taster slideshow is just one of many wonderful memories from the experience. The slideshow, emailed to clients before the viewing, is a standard part of the Nousha journey, and it features a selection of the best photos, as well as short clips showing the kids getting into the pose, such as little moments of me straightening baby boy’s shirt, for example.
This sweet memory, which clients get to keep, probably isn’t really aimed at cheering mums up when trying to get their mind off a competitive school environment, but it also sets the scene for the viewing, providing a great introduction to what customers can expect to see when going through the images.
The large number of beautiful images taken by ex-Royal photographer Lionel Cherruault during the shoot took me by surprise, and going through them and saying ‘no’ to some of the best images I’ve seen of my children was tough.
At times it felt like an eye test, where I was shouting out ‘left’ or ‘right’ and regularly feeling slightly unsure if I got it right. The good news, however, was that Cherruault was giving advice during the close to two-hour child-free viewing in the light loft space at Nousha in Battersea. He was talking me through why specific images were particularly good portraits, and with his help I felt more confident I was actually making sound decisions.
Daddy T’s hair style was very Hugh Grant in Four Weddings and a Funeral and the dark roots on my hair, which I didn’t think would show in black and white photos, did show, so the images I liked the most were the pure and gorgeous photos of barefoot Big Girl and Baby Boy.
With so many stunning portraits – around 100 to choose from – I was not surprised to hear many clients opt for The Floating Contact Sheet with 15 or more photos framed together. This was exactly what a friend, who like me was amazed with the number of stunning photos, had chosen, and decided the contact sheet would be a memorable piece of wall art for their family home.
After I receive our chosen portraits I probably won’t have to bring up Safari to cheer myself up any more. I’ll simply make sure I’ll see the Nousha portraits of Big Girl and Baby Boy as soon as I wake up, so I can wake up smiling every single day.
