0Nursery décor: Finding unique wall art
I felt that I went to the Affordable Art Fair a year too late this time. I should have gone when I was decorating Baby Girl’s nursery.
I’m not sure Daddy T would have agreed though.
When Baby Girl and I visited the Affordable Art Fair on Thursday after receiving a press pass, I couldn’t stop thinking about artwork that would have been ideal for a nursery. I spotted a number of pieces in the £200-500 price range that would have made a nursery look truly special.
I liked several prints from the Smithson Gallery – particularly one with a girl and butterflies by Clare Cutts and one with animals by Charlotte Farmer.
I also came across other artists I would look up again if shopping for wall art for a children’s room.
For me, Jeremy Dickinson’s car paintings stood out, for example. If we’d had a son, I think one of his paintings would have been super cool to have in the little one’s bedroom. But Daddy T would probably have needed quite a bit of persuading in terms of the budget.
Affordable Art Fair in Battersea Park is on from 24-27 October 2013, and it was fine to go with a toddler. We did an art collage workshop together, and my daughter was happy to walk around with me for a little while as long as I didn’t hold her hand.
