0Painting Easter decorations at Sammy Duder
‘Are you ok to move on to painting on paper?’
‘No’
21-month-old Baby Boy may not be a complete chatterbox yet, but he’s getting pretty good at communicating.
And he was particularly good on Wednesday when he was busy painting an Easter bunny at Sammy Duder together with 4-year-old Big Girl and me.
We had been invited to the charming Battersea pottery studio Sammy Duder, where they now have several Easter-themed pottery pieces to paint.
We’ve usually stuck to painting egg cups for Easter, but Sammy Duder also has cute Easter bunnies and beautiful two-piece Easter eggs to paint now. The Easter bunnies are flat and can be sweet decorations for the holiday, and Big Girl, Baby Boy and I had fun putting our personal touch to some during our little afternoon outing.
Big Girl, who’s still feeling inspired by the Peter Rabbit event we attended at Willows Farm the other week, wanted hers to look like Lily Bobtail and painted a pink dress on her bunny and a headband with a flower.
When she made a mistake the lovely and service-minded staff helped Big Girl remove some paint, and when she had put too much paint on an ear, it was dried off with a hair dryer, making it easier for Big Girl to continue painting without smudging paint all over the bunny.
Baby Boy was more difficult to encourage to take a break from painting. He did numerous layers on his bunny, mixing all the beautiful colours together and painting on the same bunny for what must have been more than 30 minutes.
I love that Sammy Duder offers a writing service, however, as Baby Boy’s bunny will have his name and age painted on the tummy, making it extra special for us.
Cute memories and a fun Easter activity for all!
