0Planning a Teletubbies birthday party for toddler
‘What type of birthday are you having?’
‘Laa-Laa birthday!’
In the last couple of weeks one of the things that’s made me laugh again and again is asking Baby Boy–who is turning 2–about the theme of his upcoming party. We’ve talked about it practically every day and he’s stuck to his first wish–a Laa-Laa from Teletubbies birthday celebration.
We started buying table decorations over Easter when Maisons Du Monde did some seasonal artificial grass decorations that seemed perfect for recreating the feel of the magical Teletubbies garden on the children’s table. I also bought grass-themed green table covers, disposable wooden cutlery, bright yellow napkins and Teletubbies-themed paper plates and paper cups.
We’re also using yellow, green, red and purple hanging swirls, which I was planning to hang from the ceiling but ended up using on a curtain pole in a window instead, and we’ve used multi-coloured fabric bunting from Great Little Trading Company, which I received at an event.
Tomorrow we’re adding all the balloons, including a big Laa-Laa foil balloon, a big silver number 2 and lots of other balloons in the four Teletubbies colours.
For party bags, we’ve stuck to yellow for Laa-Laa, ordering a bunch of medium-sized twist-handle paper bags from The Paper Bag Store, and I’ve ordered round stickers from Moo for closing the bags – ‘Thank you for coming to my Laa-Laa’ party and a photo of Baby Boy with Laa-Laa–as well as thank you cards in the same style.
Ready to party!
