0When pregnancy starts taking its toll on mum’s looks
‘Okay. This is not even funny.’
I was looking at myself in the mirror after returning from a friend’s 40th birthday bash, and it was not a pretty sight. It looked like I’d put on a lot of bright pink blusher on one cheek, but forgotten about the other one.
The big sparkly necklace I was wearing was suddenly missing a large stone, which I hadn’t noticed when leaving the house, and the whole outfit looked pretty miserable.
At night time, I tried scrubbing my face to remove what I thought was blusher only to realise it was a permanent fixture on my face. I suddenly had a red, dry patch of skin on my cheek, which I’ve never had before.
The next day my face looked potentially even worse, and I got so worried I emailed my consultant about it. But dry skin problems, which I didn’t have during the first pregnancy, are of course also normal during pregnancy, and it turns out this is yet another exciting part of this journey.
Brilliant!
