0Pros and cons of travelling with a young baby
Before Baby Girl was born, I booked two long-haul holidays and several other flights for us to have trips to look forward to as a family. I’m not sure I knew what I was getting into, but looking back, I don’t regret my ticket-buying spree.
The first flight I’d booked was for when Baby Girl was nine weeks old, and we then took her to Norway to see her grandparents.
Here’s an overview of pros and cons of travelling with a young baby:
Cons:
- I was obsessed with keeping germs away at this stage, and was glad we’d decided not to travel before she’d had her first vaccinations at least
- I was nervous and glad we were only going on a short-haul trip to a country we knew well
- I was pretty dependent on baby equipment, such as our steriliser
Pros:
- It was fine to breastfeed Baby Girl on the plane, and she slept in my lap for parts of the trip
- Since she was little, space was not a huge issue (but I had upgraded to business class just in case!)
- There were several days between her having her vaccines and us flying, so she no longer had any side effects from the vaccines
