0Puffin to celebrate 80th anniversary with Puffin Festival of Big Dreams
The other day I texted a web link to two friends and added the text: “This looks great for next week, everyone!”
The link was to Puffin Festival of Big Dreams, an online book festival celebrating children’s publishing house Puffin’s 80th anniversary.
The seven-day festival, in partnership with Waterstones, starts on Monday 8 June. With a varied programme of virtual sessions hosted by Puffin children’s book authors and illustrators, the festival is set to help children through the lockdown and keep dreaming big.
Families can expect a mix of creative online workshops, storytelling and draw-alongs at 10:30am and 3:30pm daily on weekdays and from 11am on the weekend.
The author line-up includes bestselling authors like Jacqueline Wilson, the A Murder Most Unladylike series-author Robin Stevens, and special guest Diary of a Wimpy Kid-author Jeff Kinney, as well as illustrators like Nick Sharratt, who’s illustrated more than 50 Jaqueline Wilson books, and Dapo Adeola, who’s co-created and illustrated the Look Up! picture book series.
The online festival sessions can be accessed for free via Puffin’s YouTube and Facebook channels, and there’s also a free event pack for the festival with a book guide, a detailed festival schedule and activity sheets. To receive a link to download the event pack, parents can sign up on the Puffin Festival of Big Dreams website.
