1Recording baby’s first utterances
I’m starting to think I should have put French as Baby Girl’s first language on her school registration forms and added baking and gastronomy to her list of interests.
I could never have guessed this when I filled in the forms though. Seven-month old Baby Girl is mainly hearing English and Norwegian, and she’s not showed any signs of being a foodie. In fact, she’s not met many French speakers at all and she’s shown little interest in her solids.
But on Monday she said her very first word, and it was not ‘mummy’. It was the name of a French cake.
Baba, which means sponge cake, is now the word of the week. What a clever little star we have.
Hah, adorable! Kids say “baba” in Polish for the grandmother – maybe that’s what she meant? 🙂
