Review: My 1st JCB tractors for top toddler farm toys

I’m a bit worried about Baby Boy. He suddenly loves post. Whenever we now receive a parcel he seems to think it’s filled with construction toys, beaming excitedly and hammering on the box to make me open it quickly.

The reason for his newfound interest in post is one recent delivery of a My 1st JCB tractor and fastrac from Golden Bear Toys, which we received to review. The sturdy and colourful toys with chunky wheels have got him awfully excited, and in the past weeks I’ve been telling friends that I could see these becoming his very favourite toys.

My 1st JCB Farm Fun Tractor Tim (£14.99) comes with a detachable trailer and My 1st JCB Freddie Fastrac (£9.99) comes with a detachable plough. The toys, designed for children aged 12 months and over, are a great size for toddlers and can be used both indoors and outdoors in sandpits, for example.

It looks like the tractor and fastrac both have a button to press at the top, but 17-month-old Baby Boy has now stopped trying to press these and focuses on taking the attachments on and off, driving the vehicles around on the floor, and lifting the bonnets to inspect the engines.

I didn’t quite realise his interest in construction toys before we went to an M&Co preview and he spotted the M&Co JCB range. He’s received a Team JCB pyjama (£14) from M&Co and last week he surprised Daddy T when he returned from work, greeting him with a big smile and proudly pointing at his tummy to show the three construction vehicles on his pyjama.

We’re now all about JCB at home, and when Baby Boy is not drawing on our furniture and walls, he enjoys colouring vehicles in the JCB booklet that came as an extra with the Team JCB Pyjama.

Whether it’s a colour-in page, a pyjama or a fun toy – Baby Boy appears to love his diggers and farm machinery!
