0Review: 5 things to do in Epcot’s World Showcase with kids
Epcot is currently split into two worlds – Future World and World Showcase. World Showcase is truly unique with its range of pavilions representing different countries, and each of these pavilions feature themed restaurants, shops or attractions. Here are some of my tips for what to do in World Showcase when travelling with children:
1. Meet characters
Epcot’s World Showcase can be great for children collecting autographs, and we met Mulan in the China pavilion and Alice in Wonderland in the United Kingdom pavilion with only a few minutes of queuing. We’ve also met Anna and Elsa in Royal Sommerhus in the Norway pavilion, but the queue time there is generally longer. For visitors who plan to meet Anna and Elsa, I would recommend going any time after World Showcase has opened at 11am, as this meet-and-greet spot has seemed very busy before the rest of the World Showcase opens. To meet other Disney princesses, the character meal in the Norway pavilion’s Akershus Royal Banquet Hall can also be a good alternative to Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom.
2. Travel the World (Showcase)
We’ve bought the World Showcase passports for the children and been around the pavilions to collect stamps from the different countries. Walking around the World Showcase feels a bit like visiting an open air museum, and each pavilion has its own Kidcot Fun Stops, where children can do colouring and get their passports stamped.
3. Take a ride
The two main rides in Epcot’s World Showcase are family-friendly slow rides–Frozen Ever After in the Norway pavilion and the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros in the Mexico pavilion. There are more rides scheduled to open in World Showcase too, including Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which is set to open in the France pavilion in summer 2020, and Disney has also announced there will be a Mary Poppins experience coming to the United Kingdom pavilion.
4. Learn about American history
Families with children who are old enough to learn about American history may enjoy the show The American Adventure in World Showcase, which features an impressive 35 audio-animatronics and is set to entertain both young and old. Audiences travel back in time with Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain and encounter a number of other famous faces from the past while learning about the history of America in this educational Epcot attraction.
5. Try Agent P’s Adventure
Families with children who like detective and secret agent experiences, can sign up for Agent P’s Adventure to explore the World (Showcase). We’re yet to try this experience, but it’s been on my list of things to do and I’ve seen other families enjoy this while walking around World Showcase. To participate, you sign up online and use your smartphone to receive clues, and you’re then taken to one of the pavilions as part of your mission.
