Review: BabyBjorn Bouncer Balance Soft Ice Cream Collection for style and function

‘Look! You can entertain baby!’

When visiting friends with babies this has been my standard comment. I’ve tried to get Baby Girl into the idea that she can chat to Baby Boy while he’s sitting in a bouncer, as I could see this being ideal for keeping everyone happy when we’re all in the kitchen and I need to sterilise bottles or quickly prepare a meal.

To get her onboard, I also recently brought her along when picking up a new blue mint BabyBjörn bouncer, part of the limited edition BabyBjörn Ice Cream Collection launched last week and available from John Lewis, which we’ve received to review, and at home, we both agreed Baby Boy would love his beautiful new blue chair.

With the new Ice Cream Collection, Swedish brand BabyBjörn has released bestsellers like the bouncer in gorgeous summer colours, which can make a lovely addition to a family room or become a sweet feature in a nursery. We had the BabyBjörn bouncer in black and dark grey from before, but I love the new blue and this was my top pick for Baby Boy.

The bouncer, which has three positions and gives support to baby’s neck and back, is also one of those baby items I don’t think it’s worth being without. Even if baby uses it most in the first six months, I found it truly essential for this period when Baby Girl was little, and Grandpa P and Grandma N bought one too to make it easier for us to visit,

Baby Girl enjoyed sitting bouncing in hers and rotating the flowers and face on the BabyBjörn wooden bouncer toy, and I kept moving the bouncer around since it’s easy to carry. She would sit in it in the bathroom in the mornings when I had a shower and later in the kitchen so she could be safe while I managed to grab some food. Since she also had reflux as a baby, we used it with the activity gym, giving her a chance to be in an upright position and still reach and grab toys without having to lie flat.

The BabyBjörn Bouncer Balance Soft is one of my favourite baby buys – and now it’s an added bonus that it’s available in what might well become Baby Boy’s favourite colour too!
