Review: BabyBjörn Eat and Play Smock for taking baby from weaning to messy play

BabyBjorn Eat and Play SmockThe other day I bought a beautiful cream-coloured baby romper for Baby Boy, which I figured would look gorgeous paired with a pale blue shirt. I had completely forgotten Baby Boy had started weaning and was now smudging orange and green goo on anything within sight–including his own outfits.

To keep Baby Boy representable, I think long-sleeved bibs are a brilliant idea, and after trying three different ones my absolute favourite is the BabyBjörn Eat and Play Smock (Available from John Lewis for £19.95). I bought two of these for Big Girl when she was little, and Baby Boy has now received a blue one as a sample.

There are so many baby things that are fantastic to have for a short period of time, but the Babyjörn Eat and Play Smock lasts for years. Three-year-old Big Girl is using hers, which are by now covered in paint stains, regularly for art activities at home, while Baby Boy is using his as protection against my two big fears–carrot and banana stains.

Baby Eat and Play SmockThe soft smock in water-repellent material is now long enough to cover Baby Boy’s legs, which is ideal if he’s dressed in clothes I don’t want ruined by his current eating habits.

I also find the smock easier to put on than smaller long-sleeved bibs, and I like that it features comfortable elasticated cuffs, meaning he doesn’t get food stains on his shirt cuffs.

After use I put the Eat and Play Smocks in the washing machine, or wipe them off with a cloth. Practical and long-lasting!

BabyBjörn Eat and Play Smock is suitable for children to use from 8 months, and it is made of BPA-free plastic
