0Review: Bonapeti meal service for making London life easy when there’s no time to cook
Before having Baby Girl I started a cooking project. I made lots of lasagne, which I cut into dinner-sized portions, and Daddy T kept questioning my efforts. In his mind, he would be able to cook during his paternity leave and life with a newborn would be a smooth ride.
But as soon as Baby Girl was born we realised it didn’t matter that babies sleep much. The days still somehow passed so quickly, and there really was no time to cook in between nappy changes, coping with immense piles of laundry, sterilising equipment, reading new instruction leaflets, as well as keeping our newborn well fed and rested. The freezer was soon empty.
Considering our experience last time, I was pleased to be offered to test the new food offering from Bonapeti, an on-demand service focusing on delivering healthy, restaurant-quality vegetarian dishes to busy Londoners. Bonapeti offers a selection of two main courses, a side and a dessert every day, which I think is a useful concept for new mums and dads who need help with looking after themselves too.
We received a box with two main courses, a side and a dessert. This could have been ordered before noon on the same day, and all food comes from sustainable sources where possible – local, organic and British. It was easy to understand what we were eating as the box included cards with photos of the dishes and all the ingredients, and it looks like main courses tend to be under £10.
For families, there were also several things Baby Girl could have eaten from the Bonapeti boxes, and although I don’t now need a cooking service all the time and I usually eat meat or fish for dinner, I think there are times when I would most definitely need more help and that’s when a service with healthy food options like Bonapeti becomes really interesting.
As a mum, help with looking after myself is probably often what I need the most.
