0Review: Celebrating DVD release of Early Man
When the children were treated to a special movie afternoon to beat holiday blues, I was struggling to stay away. I had planned to carry on working on the table next to them, but I soon found myself tucked up on the sofa watching the film instead.
We had received a fun Early Man Movie pack to review to celebrate the prehistoric comedy from Shaun the Sheep creators Aardman and StudioCanal being available on DVD from 28 May.
With cuddly toys, model-making kits, accessories and the DVD, we were ready for a fun afternoon with movie and crafts. The Hognob cuddly toy was soon a favourite with both Big Girl and Big Boy, and the prehistoric pet ended up having the prime position on the sofa during our movie afternoon.
In the film, Hognob is main character Dug’s best friend, and together with rebel Goona they help the tribe in their battle to save their home and beat the Bronze Age at their own game. The film took me by surprise by telling the story about cavemen playing football, and when Hognob was massaging the greedy Bronze Age leader I found it impossible to drag myself away from the TV.
When talking about the family film afterwards, we agreed it might have been “a bit scary” at times for young children, but we “really liked when they got their valley back” and the likable Goona was a super talent.
In fact, I’m still smiling thinking about these hilarious characters!
